Attention
all Scrabble players!!
Congratulations to Aiden Flynn and Felix Wong, winners of The Thayer Public Library's 4th Annual Scrabble Playoff!
The playoffs, for
students in grades 5 through 8, were held on Saturday March 24th in Logan Auditorium.
Aiden and Felix competed in the National Championship on May 4th and 5th in Providence, Rhode
Island, where they made and excellent showing.
They played their way up to 16th place in the next to the last
round of competition.
With a chance to make it into the top 10 and win a money prize, they
played that last round for all they were worth. The competition is
tough in these national events and, although no money was won, Aiden
and Felix walked away champions by landing in the top 25 percent
of avid Scrabble teams from across the United States.
Congratulations Aiden and Felix for a job very well done!
Meanwhile, you can still practice your Scrabble
skills every Thursday at 6:30
at the Library on the Lower Level.
Get a head start on next year's competition!
Bring your own Scrabble board, or use one of ours.
Scrabble players of
all ages are welcome!
