Attention
all Scrabble players!!
Congratulations to Matt Eleuteri and Sebastien Powell winners of Thayer Public Library's 7th Annual Scrabble Playoff! The playoffs, for students in grades 5 through 8, were held on Saturday, January 30, 2010. Matt and Sebastien will be competing in the National School Scrabble Championship in Orlando, Florida in May! Accompanying Matt and Sebastien are last year’s winners, Alex Pattavina and Mike Green. Alex and Mike competed valiantly against 100 teams from across the United States in Rhode Island last year and will return to the Championship as seasoned veterans! Good luck to all four of you!
Now is the time to be thinking about the 2011 Championship season! If you will be in grades 5 – 8 next year, and like to play, it’s time to start practicing. The library holds open Scrabble play every Thursday night at 6:30 (6:00 in July and August). Come and check out the competition and get a head start! It’s no coincidence that Matt and Sebastien were regular attendees on Thursday nights for a couple months leading up to the Playoffs – just like Alex and Mike!
Scrabble players of all ages are welcome on Thursdays.
